I've gotten some requests recently for house updates, so I thought I'd post a few before & after pictures. It's nice to look back at photos of the first few times we saw the house and really take in how far we've come. Because it was an "as-is" estate sale, we had to look past all the clutter from the previous owner and really use our imagination to see the home's full potential.

Playing House: Before & After

Kitchen: Before & After
Before we moved, we decided that the kitchen would be the first room we tackled in the new house. Though our budget prevented us from diving into a full-scale renovation (hopefully that will come in the next few years and will include knocking down a wall), we've come a long way from the outdated, gold kitchen the house came with. It's amazing what a few cans of paint can do. We still need to do something about the floors, ceiling, and "pizza hut" lamp, but so far we're enjoying the simple upgrades.
ps, Many thanks to the friends who helped paint cabinets. We owe you!

Playing House: Part 1
After closing on our house a week ago, Tim and I have jumped into our real life version of "Playing House." There is a ton to be done to our bungalow before we move in so we are taking things as they come, learning as we go. This week we picked out shingles for our new roof (quite a tough decision), cut the lawn, started stripping wallpaper and painting. We also made our first few big trips to Home Depot as homeowners, and let me tell you, it definitely has a different feel now. It has become a candy store for me—full of fabulous ideas.
